Maryland Liberty Tree Project Logo Design

About
The Liberty Tree is one of the most powerful and enduring symbols of American resistance, community action, and shared civic responsibility. From its origins in Boston protesting the Stamp Act to its adoption across the colonies, the Liberty Tree became a living emblem of liberty itself. In Maryland, the Liberty Tree selected by the citizens of Annapolis in September 1775 survived the Revolutionary era and remains central to this story today. Maryland had the foresight to create exact DNA replicas from that Liberty Tree before it was brought down by a hurricane in 1999. Maryland is the only one of the original colonies to do so.
Southern Maryland National Heritage Area, and other coalition partners, are honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary and celebrating Maryland’s central role in shaping the American story by planting a tulip poplar Liberty Tree in all of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City by the end of 2026.

My Contribution
As lead designer of the Maryland Liberty Tree logo project team at The Hatcher Group, I was in charge of bringing the team's concepts to life and refining various logo options for the client. Once a logo concept was chosen, I created a multi-page logo brand guide and exported all logo assets for official use.
